Our Oberthur Primary School Chaplains
Our school Chaplains provide pastoral care and emotional well-being support to students, staff and the wider school community, regardless of their faith or beliefs.
The two School Chaplains act as a point of contact for students experiencing difficulties, offering guidance, and connecting them with relevant services. The School Chaplains are an integral part of our school contributing to the creation of a positive and inclusive school environment promoting cooperation, respect and understanding of diversity.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Pastoral Care: Providing one-on-one support, running small group programs and offering a listening ear to students, staff and parents.
- Emotional Well-being: Supporting students through challenging situations, such as grief, personal or emotional difficulties and mental health concerns.
- Connecting with Services: Referring students to appropriate support services within the school and the wider community.
- Promoting Positive Relationships: Facilitating activities that foster healthy relationships and cooperation among students.
- Working with Staff: Collaborating with teachers, councillors and other support staff to create a positive and supportive school environment.
- Community Engagement: Connecting with local community organisations to provide a broad range of support services to the school.
In essence, our School Chaplains play a vital role in fostering the holistic well-being of our school community by offering a blend of practical support, emotional guidance and connection to necessary resources.
School Volunteer Program
The School Volunteer Program Incorporated (S.V.P.) has been running at Oberthur Primary School for many years.
The program is well established with several experienced and skilled volunteers. The program is managed and supported by our School Chaplains ‘making a difference’ to the lives of many of our students.
The students are identified by teachers and parents as potentially benefiting from mentoring. The Volunteer Mentors assist the students in school on a one-on-one basis by encouraging and guiding them to achieve their full potential. Mentoring can increase self-esteem, confidence and develop improved life skills.
