School Uniform
Oberthur school uniform consists of a range of items, suitable for all seasons. Please peruse our policy and guidelines concerning our student dress code.
Attendance and Learning
We truly appreciate our families who value education, support our programs, and keep in touch about any late arrivals or absences. Your partnership makes a real difference to your child’s learning.
According to the Department of Education’s Student Attendance Policy and Framework, regular attendance has a significant impact on learning progress and achievement.
Missing one day every two weeks (around 90–94% attendance) can have a noticeable impact on learning.
Missing one day each week (around 80% attendance) often leads to achievement falling below expected grades, especially in Literacy and Numeracy.
Research shows that a 10% drop in attendance can lead to around a 4–6% drop in academic results.
By working together to maintain strong attendance, we can help every student achieve their best.
Arrivals and Departures
School Starts at 8:40am and ends at 3:10pm, with the exception of Wednesday’s where school commences at 8:40am and ends at 2:30pm(Early Close). For all pick-up and drop-off we encourage the use of the ‘Kiss and Drive’ traffic flow system located at the front of the school on Nicholls Crescent.

Cyber Safety and Positive Digital Behaviour
Cyber safety and positive digital behaviour are encouraged, supported, and upheld throughout our school. We aim to help students become media-aware and responsible digital citizens — both at school and at home, as well as in the wider community.
Through education and guidance, we teach our students to make safe, respectful and thoughtful choices when using technology and engaging online.

Annual Parent Consent
At Oberthur Primary School we aim to offer your child the widest range of learning opportunities and celebrate their successes whenever possible. This may often require some form of parental consent. The form asks you to consent to your child’s participation/ use/access to several aspects of out school program. At all times we make the very best efforts to exercise exemplary standards in respect of duty of care. This parental consent rates to media publication, internet access, third party applications viewing materials and local excursions. All inline with the Department of Education Policies and Guidelines which can be viewed in detail at: www.education.wa.edu.au
Positive Behaviour Policy
At Oberthur Primary School, we are dedicated to fostering a welcoming, safe and supportive environment for our students, staff, families and the wider community. We strive to empower both learners and educators to reach their full potential in a culture of high expectations, equity, inclusivity and genuine care.
Our whole-school approach to behaviour aligns with the Department of Education’s guidelines and is grounded in the principles of restorative practice, promoting respectful relationships and a positive school culture.
Oberthur Primary School’s whole school approach to behaviour intends to:
Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere across the school and in every classroom, promoting collaboration and mutual understanding among teachers, students and parents to ensure all students have the best opportunity to learn.
Create an environment that recognises and respects the rights and responsibilities of every individual, while prioritising the safety and well-being of all staff, students, parents and community members.
Continue to uphold and embed the Oberthur Core Principles to safeguard individual rights and ensure the safety of all.
School uniforms
The wearing of school uniforms contributes to the establishment of a positive tone within our school and also encourages a sense of pride in Oberthur Primary School. This is particularly important when classes and groups are taking part in excursions.
The following items constitute the school uniform for Oberthur Primary School:

Boys
- Summer: Navy blue school shorts, green school polo shirt, broad brim school hat with faction colour on reverse side.
- Winter: Navy blue school shorts, navy blue school long pants, green school polo shirt, green school jacket, broad brim school hat with faction colour on reverse side.
Girls
- Summer: Navy blue school shorts, navy blue school skort, green school polo shirt, green school dress, broad brim school hat with faction colour on reverse side.
- Winter: Navy blue school shorts, navy blue school skort, navy blue school long pants, green school polo shirt, green school jacket, broad brim school hat with faction colour on reverse side.
Faction shirts
Faction polo shirts are available in faction colours with faction name and school logo.
The factions are:
- Canning (gold)
- Fitzroy (red)
- Murray (green)
- Swan (blue)
These will be worn for athletics and swimming carnivals where students represent their factions.
They may also be worn each Wednesday except if students are attending an excursion on that day.
- Uniforms are available from the P&C Uniform Shop. Opening times published in the school newsletter.
- Please ensure that all items of clothing have the student’s name clearly labelled to ensure items can be returned to their owners.
- Tights have not been included in the dress code. In the event that a student wears a dress or skort in cooler weather, any tights worn need to be school navy blue in colour and not ribbed or patterned. Any other colour tights, any leggings or trousers are not to be worn.
- If it is necessary to wear something under the school polo, please ensure the white singlet or crew ‘T’ shirt is not visible (i.e. long sleeved undershirts not allowed).
- Long hair is to be tied back for safety reasons and to prevent the spread of headlice. This applies to all
- Children attending school excursions and activities must wear full school uniform.
- No costume jewellery is to be worn. Sleepers or studs are the only earrings to be worn.
- Make-up and nail polish are not
- Parents may be contacted regarding clothing considered inappropriate for school.
- All footwear must be secured on the feet. No thongs or thong type sandals are permitted for safety reasons. Footwear should be suitable for physical activity.
- When coats are worn to school they should be hung up with the students’ bags outside the classroom.
- If long socks are worn they must be plain, navy blue only and worn below the knee.
- Head bands must be plain, discrete and appropriate.
The School Dress Code was developed by a committee of School Board members in consultation with the School Community and is Endorsed by Oberthur School Board.
