The School Day
For Pre-primary to Year Six, the school day starts at 8:40am and goes through to 3:10pm Monday to Friday except for Wednesday’s, where the school day runs from 8:40-2:30pm(Early Close). Kindy begins 8:50am.
Student are encouraged to arrive in school ten minutes before the siren in readiness for their classroom opening and the preparing of their individual learning areas.

Kiss and Drive
‘Kiss and Drive’ refers to a designated area in front of the school off Nicholas Crescent, where drivers can briefly stop to drop off or pick up passengers. It’s designed for quick stops and exits, minimizing congestion and prioritising passenger safety. The term implies a quick farewell, like a ‘kiss goodbye’ before the passenger departs.
Key Aspects of the Kiss and Drive Zone
- Purpose: Designed for the quick drop-off or pick-up of students, not for parking.
- Duration: Drivers are usually permitted to stop for a limited time, often around two minutes, and are expected to remain in their vehicle during this time.
- Location: Nicholls Crescent.
- Safety: Helps reduce congestion and potential hazards associated with prolonged parking or stopping in busy areas.
- Etymology:- the name ‘kiss and Drive’ originates from the idea of a quick goodbye(the kiss) before the driver heads off to their destination(the Drive).
School Term Dates
Our School Library
The Oberthur Primary School Library is a modern and vibrant facility providing staff and students access to a wide range of books and resources to enhance all teaching and learning areas. In addition to extensive English library, we have a wide range of reading material for those students keen on developing their Chinese language skills. Students are encouraged to use the library once a week during their scheduled library borrowing day, but those avid readers may also choose to update their books more regularly.
Community Library Boxes
Two community library boxes are located on the boundary of our school site. These boxes encourage our students, parents, grandparents, neighbours and general members of the local community to ‘leave a book take a book’.
Why not have a look in our community library boxes. One box is located on the corner of the Kindy playground next to the exit of ‘Kiss and Drive’ on Nicholls Crescent, and the second box is next to the tennis court pathway on Oberthur Crescent.
School Supplies/ Stationary Requirements
Campion Education is our school supplier. Year group specific personal items are available on request. These requirements are issued during Term 4 in readiness for the start of the following academic year.
Attendance/Lateness
At Oberthur Primary School ‘Compass’ is used to record all student attendance. The main office should be notified of any absence or illness affecting your child.Any late arrivals should report directly to the main office.
Assemblies
Assemblies are generally held every second Friday of each term. Each year group is represented throughout the year as well as celebrating special events and occasions.
